On admission to the Ladybird assessment unit the Nurse will assess your child by asking specific details about the illness and carrying out observations such as pulse, temperature, respiration rate, oxygen saturations, weight, height and blood pressure. The Nurse will ask details about your family such as address, school, medical history, allergies etc. Information regarding your child’s admission to the unit may be shared with other Professionals as required, these include can health visitor, school nurse or social services depending on reason for admission
Following this assessment, the junior Doctor / Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner and then the registrar/ consultant will assess your child and make a plan of care/treatment. Your child will most likely see a few doctors throughout their stay.
