About Me

Zoe Shields, Tutor at Bridgend College said:

“Cordy’s remarkable journey of growth and empowerment has been nothing short of inspiring. Over the past few months, Cordy has truly demonstrated the power of self-advocacy, dedication, and personal reflection in her role at CTM.

Cordy has built strong relationships with both staff and patients fully embracing the CTM Values of ‘We treat everyone with respect’ and ‘We listen, learn and improve’. Her positive attitude and approach to collaboration have made her a valued member of the team.

Her commitment to learning is evident as she consistently puts extra effort into her classwork, showcasing her determination to improve and grow. However, it is her courage and self-advocacy that stand out the most. On the 18th of February, Cordy attended Learning Disability Wales’s Question Time with Senedd Members at The Senedd, where she spoke directly with Hefin David MS about her personal experience.

Cordy shared how, despite her parents’ best efforts, she did not receive a statement of educational needs until Year 11, which greatly impacted her support, confidence, and progression throughout school. By speaking out, Cordy has shed light on the challenges faced by many, and her story has been a source of inspiration to others.

Cordy’s journey exemplifies the power of resilience, self-advocacy, and the courage to make change. Her ability to use her voice to create awareness and inspire others is a testament to her incredible strength and determination. Cordy is not only shaping her own future but also paving the way for others to follow. Her story will undoubtedly continue to inspire and empower those who hear it.”
