Women's Health Hub opens at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon

Opening of the Women

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has marked the official opening of its first Integrated Women’s Health Hub at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon; bringing a range of services for women’s health together in one place.

As part of the Welsh Government’s NHS Wales Women’s Health Plan 2025 – 2035, a commitment has been made to ensure that women’s health hubs are set up in every part of Wales by 2026. The Hub at YCC is a community-based service that has been designed to make it simpler for women and girls (age 13+) to get the care and support they need.

The Women’s Health Hub in CTM provides access to vital healthcare services for women across the region. At the Hub women can access help with menstrual health, contraception (including post-natal contraception and abortion care), and menopause support, through both face-to-face and virtual appointments.

On Thursday 26 February, Sarah Murphy, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, visited the Integrated Women’s Health Hub at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon and marked its official opening.

Commenting on the visit, she said:

“Women's health hubs are all about better access to healthcare. I'm proud to officially open this Integrated Women's Health Hub at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, which will improve health outcomes for women and bring care closer to home.

“The hub is a fantastic example of how we are delivering on our commitment to ensure women and girls get the care they need and are listened to."

Patients will be referred to appropriate specialist clinics at the Integrated Women’s Health Hub by their GP for initial assessment.

Well-being teams will work collaboratively with clinical teams at the Integrated Women’s Health Hub, supporting a holistic approach to women’s health care. The team at the hub will share useful information on local support groups, links to evidence-based information and advice for all conditions relating to menstrual health.
