CTM UHB is investing in the future of Maesteg Community Hospital and is undertaking some urgent improvement works which will provide improved settings for our patients and support the delivery of safer care which we strive to provide.
To enable this work to take place quickly, the Llynfi Ward at Maesteg Community Hospital will temporarily close today, Friday, November 6th 2020 until January 2021.
We would like to reiterate our commitment to the long-term future of the Hospital and a project group has been set up to work through the future plans.
The immediate estates work over the coming months will help improve the layout of the Hospital and support us to respond to the challenges which COVID-19 has presented us with. A second ward will be created on re-opening, which will help enhance segregation of staff and patients and reduce the future risk of COVID-19 transmission.
For those patients on the ward, we have liaised directly with them and their families on their discharge or transfer to other appropriate settings to cater for their individual needs. Staff working at Maesteg Community Hospital will be redeployed to care for our patients at Ysbyty’r Seren field hospital.
Other services which are delivered at the Hospital, including outpatient services, will continue during this time.
