Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s Lloyd Griffiths (Head of Mental Health Nursing), Mohamed Elnasharty (Consultant, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Sexual Health), Zoe Barber (Consultant Breast Surgeon) and Deborah Matthews (Head of Nursing) were invited to the party the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace earlier this month.
The garden party included an afternoon tea, two military bands and representation from King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Princess Anne and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Zoe Barber was invited for leading the development of the Wales Metastatic Breast Cancer Pathway - the UK’s first dedicated metastatic cancer pathway.
Mohamed Elnasharty was invited for the leadership and efforts in maternity and neonatal services as we managed to be de-escalated from risk measures
Lloyd Griffiths was invited to represent the team at Ty Llidiard for the work they had done to improve patient experience in the unit.
Deborah Matthews was nominated for 40 years of service to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Zoe said “I was delighted to be invited to attend a Royal Garden Party for leading the development of the Wales Metastatic Breast Cancer Pathway - the UK’s first dedicated metastatic cancer pathway. This pathway was the work of a large team of clinicians, third sector partners and patients and aims to improve and standardise metastatic breast cancer care across Wales and the UK.”
Mohamed said: “I was really honoured to be nominated and invited to the Royal Garden Party. For me, it felt like stepping into a dream adorned with petals of privilege and whispers of grace.”
Deborah said “I was delighted to attend such a prestigious event alongside my other colleagues in CTM. The occasion made me feel very proud to be a nurse and gave me the opportunity to reflect on the experiences I have gained throughout my long career. I know I have made a difference to the patients I have cared for, alongside their families, as well as gaining incredible friends and close colleagues on the way.”
