Gethin Hughes Takes Up Post as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at CTMUHB
Gethin Hughes has joined this month as the Health Board’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Gethin has come from the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, where he was the interim Chief Operating Officer, a post he held since September 2020.
Having grown up in South Wales and starting his career at Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Gethin has held a number of senior operational roles at Board and sub Board level in a number of NHS organisations providing acute, community and mental health services predominantly across London and South East England.
In his most recent roles Gethin has led on significant programmes of service transformation including an innovative programme of community service redesign bringing together community services with primary care and more recently leading integration of out of hours primary care with A&E services across two acute hospitals.
Gethin said: “I am delighted to be returning home to South Wales, and excited to join CTMUHB, having been inspired by the ambitions of the Health Board on improving population health and maximising the opportunities of integrating care across our services.
” I am really looking forward to getting out to visit the services and to meet as many colleagues and patients as I can, to understand how we can make the changes that will further improve the outcomes for our patients.”
Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s Chief Executive, Paul Mears said: “I am really pleased that we have been able to make a substantive appointment in Gethin and it’s great to have him on board. I know that Gethin will be supported by Team CTM as he settles into his new role with us.”
