Debbie Jones, has been appointed as Head of Midwifery at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Debbie started her career in nursing and midwifery 20 years ago, most recently held the post of Head of Patient Safety and Quality at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. She has worked in a variety of midwifery related roles, including high risk maternity care, sonography and operational lead midwife duties. Debbie led on the establishment of the midwifery sonography service, a model which is being implemented in other health boards across Wales.
Speaking about her appointment Debbie said: “I am excited to be joining CTM and looking forward to being part of a team that strives to provide the very best care for women and families.
“As a supporter of empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care, I am passionate about ensuring their voices are heard, and optimising outcomes. I believe that working collaboratively with women and families results in meaningful service development and reform.”
Debbie has experience of creating and implementing policies, strategies, committees, and governance groups. She has also played a key role in implementing organisation-wide change to support the Quality Assurance and the Clinical Effectiveness agenda, including the Quality Safety and Experience framework.
As part of her ethos, Debbie places a major emphasis on encouraging employee wellbeing and development which she feels is inextricably linked with patient safety and high-quality care. She is a supporter of promoting awareness of the Health Board’s values and principles as she feels they are the foundations upon which a healthy patient safety and learning culture can flourish.
