Last week CTM UHB marked National Apprenticeship Week 2025 by showcasing and celebrating apprentices from across CTM.
CTM currently offers apprenticeships as Nursing Assistants, Pharmacy Support Workers, People Services – HR, Physiotherapy, Administration and Clerical, Maternity Support Workers, Learning and Development and Patient Experience to name but a few.
We are currently supporting over 23 staff members employed directly as apprentices and have supported over 870 staff to upskill to complete a range of qualifications balancing studies with work.
Rhian Lewis, Learning and Development Lead (Apprenticeships, Qualifications, Pathways and Widening Access) said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent, dedication, and enthusiasm of our apprentices, as well as the vital role they play in shaping the future of our workforce.
“Their commitment to learning, developing new skills, and contributing to our Health Board is truly inspiring. They bring fresh energy and ideas, helping us to grow and improve the services we provide to our patients and communities. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and look forward to seeing them thrive in their careers.
“I’d like to thank all of the managers and mentors who support our apprentices by provide guidance, encouragement, supporting them to build apprentices build and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
“I also like to give a huge thank you to our training providers for their invaluable contributions. ACT, Educ8 and Talk Training have been instrumental in ensuring our apprentices receive the highest quality training and development opportunities. Their partnership is key to the success of our apprenticeship programmes.
“Our apprentices are permanent employees from the time they join CTM. They get paid a portion of their salary through using Annex 21. They get 70% of the NHS band scale in the first year, 75% in the second year and up until they complete the qualification. On completion of the qualification, they then they will transfer across to the entry level for their band.”
