A joint collaboration between staff in CTM Paediatric Physio Team and the staff and pupils in Ysgol Ty Coch, Tonteg have won the National MOVE Programmes, Better Together Award. The award celebrates fantastic partnerships to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
The National MOVE programme enables disabled young gain independent movement though through an activity-based programme. It programme combines an approach of education, therapy and family knowledge to teach the skills of sitting, standing and walking.
Across CTM, there are five MOVE school, all of which are supported by the CTM UHB Paediatric Physio Team. The Better Together Award acknowledges the outstanding achievement between the staff and the pupils and the Physio Team, in particular Ysgol Ty Coch.
Debbie Davies, Head of Physiotherapy Services for Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, said, “I’ve been to Ysgol Ty Coch and seen the wonderful work the therapy assistant staff do in partnership with the school to enhance the levels of activity for their pupils and they have enormous fun at the same time. A very well deserved award for all concerned.”

The title of this award is so apt as it summarises many of years of outstanding collaboration between Ysgol Ty Coch and the peadiatric physiotherapy team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS trust. The impact of this collaboration on the children of Ysgol Ty Coch is both profound and sustained and I could not be prouder to be a part of such wonderful work. The collaboration however is only successful because of the inspirational individuals that drive the work forward.
