Executive Director of Strategy & Transformation

Claire Thompson is the Executive Director of Strategy & Transformation at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. In this role, she leads the organisation’s long-term vision, strategic planning and transformation programmes, working with partners to improve health outcomes and deliver sustainable change. Claire brings over 25 years’ senior NHS leadership experience, including roles as Hospital Divisional Director and Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and as a Deputy Director of Commissioning. Most recently Claire was Chief Officer of Improvement and Partnership at Great Western Hospital, Swindon. Passionate about improvement and system-wide collaboration, Claire ensures that services are designed around the needs of the population and is driven by a commitment to tackling health inequalities, strengthening services and ensuring the Health Board’s vision translates into meaningful outcomes for the population it serves.
