How do I get a Flu vaccine and COVID-19 autumn booster?

 

Pregnant women

Our teams are working on a plan for pregnant women, but it is likely your will receive your jab from your GP or community pharmacy.

COVID-19

Our teams are working on a plan to identify pregnant women for your COVID-19 autumn booster.  We will update as soon as this is finalised, however, you will receive an appointment letter from us inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres.
 


 

People aged 50 or over

Flu

From your GP or community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will be sent an appointment letter inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres for your booster.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 


 

Carers aged 16 or over

People with a long-term health condition that increases the risk

Flu

For adults in this category, you will receive your flu jab from either your GP or a community pharmacy.

For babies/children from six months old, their flu vaccine will be given by their GP.  For school-aged children up to 18 years of age, their vaccine will be given in school/college, or if not in education, by their GP.

COVID-19

From 5 years of age all ages will be sent an appointment letter inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres for your booster.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 


 

People who live with someone who has a weakened immune system

Flu

For adults in this category, you will receive your flu jab from either your GP or a community pharmacy.

For babies/children from six months old, their flu vaccine will be given by their GP.  For school-aged children up to 18 years of age, their vaccine will be given in school/college, or if not in education, by their GP.

COVID-19

From 5 years of age all ages will be sent an appointment letter inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres for your booster.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 


 

All staff working in care homes for older adults

Flu

For anyone aged 18 and over, you will receive your vaccine at your GP or a community pharmacy. 

For 16 and 17 year olds working in a care home, you will receive the flu nasal spray from your GP.

COVID-19

We will be visiting the care home where you work and your employer will have provided us with your details for us to offer you the booster.


 

People who live in a care home

Flu

We are visiting the care home where you live to offer the flu vaccine.  It will be given either by your GP or a district nurse.

We are visiting the care home where you live to offer you the booster.

 


 

People with a learning disability

Flu

If you are under the age of 18, you will receive your flu vaccine from your GP. 

For 18 and over, you will receive your flu vaccine from either your GP or a community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will be sent an appointment letter.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 


 

People with a severe mental illness

Flu

If you are under the age of 18, you will receive your flu vaccine from your GP. 

For 18 and over, you will receive your flu vaccine from either your GP or a community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will be sent an appointment letter.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 


 

Frontline health and social care workers

Flu

From your GP or community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will be sent an appointment letter inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres for your booster.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 


 

NHS Staff

Flu

Where available co-administration with COVID-19 vaccination as below, or at one of our hospital sites (date to be arranged), GP or community pharmacy

COVID-19

We will send you an appointment letter inviting you to the hospital where you are based, or inviting you to one of community vaccination centres (if you are based in the community and not one of our hospitals).  We will keep you updated through our staff channels.

 


People who are housebound

Flu

Please contact your GP who will make arrangements for you to receive your flu vaccine. 

COVID-19

We will contact you to make an appointment to offer you the autumn booster in your home.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 

 

Flu vaccine for children

  • The yearly flu vaccine is recommended for all children from the age of two (age on 31 August 2022) up to and including school year 11.
  • Children aged 2-3 can get their vaccine from their local GP surgery.
  • Most primary and secondary school children will get their vaccine at school.
