Ty Llidiard listening event

Last week, we held a drop-in listening event about services at Ty Llidiard in Bridgend. The facility provides mental health services for young people.

We asked people for their views on how we can improve the services delivered at Tŷ Llidiard, and on a new visual identity to help embed the ‘4Cs’ culture of caring, compassionate, calm and confident.

The event provided an informal space for people to feedback of what works well now and what could be improved or changed.

A range of staff, stakeholders, patients and former patients were invited to have their say.

One teenage girl attend the session having been a patient in the unit last year. She commented, “As a former patient I felt that it was really important to come along to the session with my mum today and to have a voice in this discussion. I have been able to talk about what went well for me during my stay, but also what I think needs to be improved. It is really important for services users to have their say.”

During the session, people were asked to express their views on the following four elements:

  • Caring – how can we create a more caring space and place for young people when the stay at Ty Llidiard and a more caring place for staff to work?
  • Compassionate – how can we create a more compassionate space and place for young people when they stay at Ty Llidiard, and a more compassionate place for staff to work?
  • Calm – How can we create a more calm space and place for young people when they stay at Ty Llidiard and a more calm place for staff to work?
  • Confident – How can we create a more confident space and place for young people when they stay at Ty Llidiard and a more confident place for staff to work?

Lloyd Griffiths Interim Head of Nursing at Ty Llidiard said; “This engagement work is so important in informing how we operate our services and for the further of this facility. We have heard some strong opinions and gained so excellence feedback as part of this, all of which will help us to provide even better services for our young people moving forward.”
