It's the third time for Glanrhyd Hospital!

Glanrhyd Hospital in Bridgend has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award 2020-2021.

This is the third time the site has been awarded Green Flag status, initially gaining the accolade in December 2018. It is due to the recognition of the continued progress of the grounds management plan at the hospital that the site has, once again, been recipients of the award.

The Keep Wales Tidy Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Russell Hoare, assistant director of facilities, said: “On behalf of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Heath Board, I would like to thank the facilities grounds and gardens team and Glanrhyd hospital facilities team for their outstanding efforts in maintaining the site and its green spaces”.

“They, along with support from the facilities team as a whole, have demonstrated excellent team work and commitment to the Green Flag community green space objectives and can all be credited for their contribution in achieving this significant award.”

Lucy Prisk, Green Flag coordinator at Keep Wales Tidy, said: “The pandemic has shown just how important high-quality parks and green spaces are to our communities. For many of us, they have been a haven on our doorstep, benefitting our health and well-being.

“The 224 flags flying this year are a testament to the hard work of staff and volunteers who have maintained excellent standards under the most challenging circumstances. I’d like to congratulate and thank them all for their outstanding commitment.”
