Help us prevent the spread of illness in our hospitals and communities
With exceptional demand on our services and an increase of flu in our hospitals and communities, we are asking the public to use our services wisely and help us to prevent the spread of illness.
Flu cases within our hospitals and our communities continue to rise. As a result, CTM UHB has taken the decision to require all staff, patients and visitors (apart from those who are medically exempt) to wear a mask within all acute and community hospital settings.
Masks will be provided at building entrances.
This requirement is vital to protect our patients, staff and visitors and applies to the areas listed until further notice:
- All inpatient settings
- Front door areas (including emergency departments and same-day emergency care)
- Outpatient areas (including GP out-of-hours)
We would also like to remind the public, patients and those visiting loved ones in hospital of the importance of preventing the spread of illness. Help us by following the steps below:
Get vaccinated
If you’re eligible for vaccinations against flu or COVID don’t miss out. Getting vaccinated is the single most effective thing you can do to prevent yourself becoming ill and suffering the worst effects of these viruses.
Maintain good hand hygiene
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser. This may seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference.
Visit responsibly
Cases of flu, COVID, and illnesses like Norovirus (the winter vomiting bug) are on the increase. These viruses can be dangerous for vulnerable patients in hospitals, and can cause staff shortages. If you think you have a virus, or have recently spent time with someone who has a virus, avoid visiting a hospital unless absolutely necessary.
