Cwm Taf Morgannwg staff shortlisted for ten Moondance Cancer Awards

Multiple teams and members of staff from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have been shortlisted for ten of the 2024 Moondance Cancer Awards.

The Moonlight Cancer Awards celebrate and spotlight brilliant people across NHS Wales and its partners who deliver, lead and innovate cancer services.

A team including Rhian Thomas, Louise Mullane, Kerry Davies, Jane Wall, Lindsey Jose, Claire Osborne, Helen Hembrow, Rebekah Norton, Emma Jones, Menna Payne, Cassandra George and Rhian Collins have been shortlisted in the Achievement category for the Better Patient Experience award for their Head and Neck Pre-treatment Clinics work.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB’s National Strategic Clinical Network for Cancer has been shortlisted for the Patient & Public participation & involvement award in the Achievement category, for their Shaping Lung Health Checks in Wales work. The team includes Dr Sinan Eccles, Dafydd Snelling, Dr Grace McCutchan, Chris Coslett, Claire Wright, Amy Smith, Heather Ramessur-Marsden, Prof Kate Brain and Dr Samantha Quaife.

Three teams from Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB have been shortlisted for the Early detection & diagnosis award in the Innovation and Improvement category:

The National Strategic Clinical Network for Cancer has been shortlisted for the Lung Health Check Operational Pilot for Wales. The team includes Sinan Eccles, Lyndsey Haffenden, Dr Elizabeth Sharkley, Julie Thomas, Amy Smith, Claire Wright, Chris Coslett, Dr Timothy Pearce and Paul Johnston.

Matthew Flage, Gareth Blandford and the Endoscopy Scheduling team were shortlisted for their Endoscopy Services - Transformation Programme work.

A team including Sarah Maund, Sharon Donovan, Dr Sian Phillips, Nic George, Karen John, Claire Wells, Jamie White, Liz Hayward, Sian Hopkins-Davies, Gareth Goff, Tansy Studdart, Lianne Thomas, Margaret Feeney, Louise Donoghue, Nicola Edwards, Gemma Morris, Hayley Folley, Julie Parry, Lisa Wilkins and Louisa Edwards - Brown have been shortlisted for their Radiology Cancer Navigator work.

Two Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB teams have been shortlisted for the award for Working with industry and third sector in the Innovation & Improvement category:

The National Strategic Clinical Network for Cancer was shortlisted for their Lung Health Checks – Operational pilot for Wales work. This team includes Judi Rhys, Sinan Eccles, Chris Coslett, Claire Wright, Amy Smith, Lauren Edwards, Richard Erwin, Dr Nicholas Jones, Emma Bowen, Rebekah Canning, Tracy Cook and Sam Hare.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB staff and partners including Martyn Perry-Hopton, Jonathan Ellis, Sandra Marshman, Alison Jackson, Claire Williams and Rhian Collins were also shortlisted for this award for their work on Prehabilitation: Meeting patient need through multi-sector working.

A joint team from Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, Cardiff and Vale UHB and Aneurin Bevan UHB has been shortlisted for the Cancer workforce award in the Innovation and Improvement category, for the Regional Hepatocellular Carcinoma Service for South Wales. The team includes Alison Prichard, Catrin Taylor, Michelle Ford, Dai Samuel, Fidan Yousuf, Tara Rees and Tom Pembroke.

In the Excellence category, Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB’s Kirsty Morgan (Deputy Directorate Manager) has been shortlisted for the Systems and Pathways award, and Ms Zoe Barber (Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon) has been nominated for the Medical award.
