CTM's Claire Norman given prestigious Queen's Nurse Title
Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s Claire Norman (Senior Nurse Specialised Services) has been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).
The title of Queen’s Nurse indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership andis available to individual nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient care, nursing practice, learning and leadership.
Claire was given this title following a rigorous application process, which requires detailed evidence of professional practice and feedback from managers, patients and families. This is then assessed through a panel.
Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI said: “On behalf of the QNI I would like to congratulate Claire and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Claire and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”
Claire said: “It's an honour and a privilege to have been presented with the title of Queen’s Nurse. I have had the opportunity to work with some exceptional nurses and spent the majority of my nursing career in the community, first within CAMHS and now Specialised Services. I am passionate about community nursing and the opportunity this affords us to support individuals, their families and the professionals working alongside them. I look forward to the opportunity to network with my fellow Queen’s Nurses and to help promote mental health nursing.”
Robert Richards, Lead Nurse said: “This title is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates Claire’s passion, hard work and dedication to nursing. We are incredibly proud of her and would like to wish her congratulations for achieving this title.”
