The Institute of Health Engineering and Estates Management (IHEEM), in partnership with Welsh Branch and NHS Wales, Shared Services Partnership, Specialist Estates Services joined together to deliver the annual Wales Regional Conference, Exhibition and Gala Awards Dinner last week in Cardiff.

Chris Scully, CTM’s Senior Operational Estates Manager, won the prestigious Estates Champion of Champions Award.  This recognises a member of the Estates and Facilities team that has gone above and beyond their job specification to improve the patient environment.

Mark Furmage, Operational Estates Manager, also picked up an award on behalf of him and his team – the award for Estates and Facilities team of the year was greatly deserved and appreciated.

Another proud moment for the Health Board was when Joel Holley received an Award for Apprentice of the Year. Joel is a Network 75 student at the University of South Wales, studying for a degree in electrical and electronic engineering and received the award for his exceptional response to an electrical infrastructure incident at the Royal Glamorgan last year, while he was on a two year placement within the Estates Department.

Tim Burns, Assistant Director of Planning for Capital and Estates said: “I am extremely proud of all of our teams and it was a delight that we won three of the five awards presented on the night.  This is testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment that the Estates and Capital teams carry out on a daily basis to support our patients and staff and the people living and working around the CTM area.”
