How do I get a Flu vaccine and COVID-19 autumn booster?

 

 

Residents in a care home for older adults

Flu

You will be offered the flu vaccine by either your GP or District Nurse in the care home you live.

COVID-19

We are visiting the care home where you live to offer the booster.

 


All adults aged 65 years and over

Flu

You are able to access your flu vaccine via your GP or community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will invited to one of our community vaccination centres or your GP surgery. We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage; we will be in touch with you

 


 

People aged 6 months to 64 years who are classed as clinically vulnerable

Flu

For adults in this category, you will receive your flu jab from either your GP or a community pharmacy.

For babies/children from six months old, their flu vaccine will be given by their GP.  For school-aged children up to 18 years of age, their vaccine will be given in school/college, or if not in education, by their GP.

COVID-19

From 5 years of age all ages will be sent an appointment letter inviting you to one of our community vaccination centres for your booster.  We are inviting people in order of clinical priority, so there is no need to contact us at this stage, we will be in touch with you. 


Frontline health and social care staff

Healthcare staff

You will be invited to one of community vaccination centres or the hospital where you are based for both your flu vaccine and COVID booster. We will keep you updated through our staff channels.

Frontline Social Care staff (including Care Home staff):

Flu

You are able to access your flu vaccine via a community pharmacy.

COVID booster

Care home staff will be invited to attend their place of work/one of our community vaccination centres. For other Social Care staff, you will be invited to one of our community vaccination centres.

People (aged 12-64 years) who live with someone with a weakened immune system

Flu

For adults in this category, you will be able to access your flu vaccine from either your GP or community pharmacy.

 

For school aged children up to 18 years of age, their vaccine will be offered via school/college, or if not in education, by their GP.

COVID-19

From 12 years of age, all individuals who live with someone who has a weakened immune system will be invited to one of our community vaccination centres in order of clinical priority. There is no need to contact us at this stage; we will be in touch with you.


 

People aged 16 to 64 years who are carers

Flu

You are able to access your flu vaccine via your GP or community pharmacy.

COVID-19

You will invited to one of our community vaccination centres, in order of clinical priority. There is no need to contact us at this stage; we will be in touch with you.


 

Flu vaccine for children

  • The yearly flu vaccine is recommended for all children from the age of two (age on 31 August 2022) up to and including school year 11.
  • Children aged 2-3 can get their vaccine from their local GP surgery.
  • Most primary and secondary school children will get their vaccine at school.
